Provisional Patent

If your App Idea is unique, consider taking a provisional patent to secure the idea (provisional patents could be less expensive than a full patent, and are valid for 12 months).

Filing for a provisional patent means nothing but a legal proof that you are the first person to come up with the ‘invention’. Though full patent protection can be obtained only through standard or innovation patent; provisional patent serves as a peaceful gesture to your competitors about your intention to file a full patent or PCT (filing patent for number of countries) within 12 months. Meticulously crafted provisional patent is crucial to quickly secure an early filing date for the invention.

Patenting is undoubtedly one of the best ways to protect your app idea. There are many other idea protection methods worth considering.

You can get an authoritative say on obtaining exclusivity to your app idea by way of patent protection by contacting expert patent attorneys.
