Many iPhone users have expressed their irritation on getting repeated alerts for the same message. Apple configures the iPhone with this repeat message notification feature with the good intention of alerting the person the second time if he missed out the first alert.
There are times when we miss the first message alert at the instance when it comes, and hence the second alert becomes useful. But many iPhone users find this feature annoying as it distracts them from their work or any other engagement, only to find that the alert is for the same message that they received a couple of minutes back. But you can disable repeat message notification in the settings. If you are in the habit of missing out the first alert, you can add multiple text message alert notifications also.
The following are the steps to disable repeat message alerts.
- Unlock your iPhone
- Open Settings
- Tap Notifications
- Select Messages
- Scroll down to the bottom, and tap Repeat Alerts
- Choose Never. If you want multiple alerts you can specify the number
Now, your iPhone will play the alert tone only once for each message received.
