California-based technology giant, Apple, Inc. has announced iOS 10, the latest version of its mobile operating system at the Worldwide Developers Conference. The new version of iOS is expected to be unveiled in fall 2016 along with iPhone 7.

Described by Apple CEO Tim Cook as “the biggest release ever” for iOS users, the new iOS 10 will come studded with versatile and useful features.

According to the official Apple Press Info, the successor of iOS 9 comes loaded with more expressive and animated ways to message, new app-integrated Siri, redesigned and enhanced Maps, Photos, Apple Music, News apps and Home app to ensure a simple and secure way to manage home automation products in one place.

Enhanced Messaging Features

iOS 10 features expressive and fun-filled ways to message by including powerful animations, such as balloons, confetti or fireworks that can take over an entire screen to celebrate a special occasion; invisible ink to send a message only revealed after a friend swipes over it; and handwritten notes for added personalization.

Improved Functionality for Siri

In iOS 10, Siri, Apple’s voice-controlled personal virtual assistant can do more than ever by working with the apps. For the first time, developers can build on the intelligence Siri offers and let users interact directly with apps using just their voice. Developers can easily design their apps to work with Siri for messaging, phone calls, photo search, ride booking, personal payments and workouts.

Redesigned Maps

Apple has integrated beautifully-redesigned maps in iOS 10. Now open to developers with new extensions, apps like OpenTable can integrate bookings right into Maps, and services like Uber and Lyft can make it easier for users to book a ride. All this without ever leaving the Maps app. Maps is even smarter with new intelligence that proactively delivers directions to where you most likely want to go next, based on your routine or appointments on your calendar.

Revive Memories

Rediscovering memories in phone is made easier in new iOS 10. Photos in iOS 10 helps you rediscover favourite and forgotten occasions from your photo library by automatically surfacing them in Memories.

Deep integration of Home App

The Home app is deeply integrated into iOS, delivering a simple and secure way to set up, manage and control your home in one place. iOS 10 also features an all new design for Apple Music and News. The Library, For You, Browse and Radio tabs have been completely redesigned to provide an even greater sense of place. A Search tab to make finding music even easier is also added. iOS 10 features a redesigned News app with a new For You to make it easier to find stories, support for breaking news notifications and paid subscriptions.

In iOS 10, accessing the information you need is made easier and quicker. Raise to Wake automatically wakes the screen as you raise your phone. Notifications, Today view and Control Center are accessible with just a swipe or a press.

Besides these, there are some minor tweaks and changes integrated into iOS 10 to enhance user experience.

Apple designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and online services. Apple’s four software platforms – iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS -provide seamless experiences across all Apple devices.
